π Bangalore, India
Amrut was the first Indian distillery to gain international recognition for its single malts β a pioneer that changed the whisky landscape globally.
π°οΈ History and Legacy
Founded in 1948 by J.N. Radhakrishna Rao, Amrut initially produced blended whisky for the local market, but in 2004 the distillery launched the first Indian single malt on the global market. Success was immediate.
βοΈ Production and Philosophy
Amrut uses 100% Indian barley from the Himalayan region and matures in bourbon, sherry, and wine casks. The warm climate allows for much faster maturation than in Scotland, resulting in intense flavors at a young age.

Rich and intense with notes of tropical fruit, oak, spices, caramel, and vanilla. Peated varieties add smoky depth.
π Special Bottlings
Amrut Fusion, Intermediate Sherry, Peated Cask Strength, and Greedy Angels (ultra-premium).
