Founded in 1949, Clarendon is one of the island's larger distilleries, producing for both local brands and international bottlers. It is part of the National Rums of Jamaica, along with Long Pond and Monymusk.

The distillery uses both pot and column stills, with fermentation times ranging from short (light style) to long (heavy and ester-rich). Everything revolves around the Jamaican rum character: intense, fruity, and aromatic.
