Founded in 1897 as Highland Esk, the distillery has had a turbulent history. It closed and reopened several times under names like Hillside and Montrose, before finally closing its doors in 1985.
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
Glenesk distilled in copper stills, producing a classic Highland style with a light peat and malty depth. Some of the buildings were later converted into a malting facility.
