📍 Edderton, Highlands, Scotland
Balblair is one of Scotland's oldest working distilleries and is renowned for its timeless style and elegant fruitiness.
🕰️ History and Legacy
Founded in 1790 by John Ross and later moved to its current location near the spring of Allt Dearg, Balblair operated for decades under the umbrella of Inver House Distillers and only became truly popular with single malt enthusiasts in the 21st century with the introduction of vintage bottlings.
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
Balblair uses unpeated barley and slowly distills in tall stills for a light, fruity spirit. The whisky is matured in bourbon and sherry casks and bottled only when the palate is perfect, not based on age.
🍯 Flavor Profile and Style
Fruity, soft and fresh with notes of apple, pear, honey, citrus and light oak.
🌟 Special Bottlings
Balblair 12 YO, 15 YO, 18 YO, and Vintage Series.
💎 Why this distillery is special
