📍 Dufftown, Speyside, Scotland
Balvenie is one of the last true “estate distilleries” — produced entirely on-site, from barley to glass.
🕰️ History and Legacy
Founded in 1892 by William Grant, the founder of Glenfiddich, Balvenie shares a family heritage with its famous neighbor, but distinguishes itself with a traditional, artisanal production process that is almost unique in the modern whisky world.
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
Balvenie uses its own barley, has its own malting floors, and its own cooperage. The distillery is known for combining classic Speyside characteristics with innovative cask maturations (such as rum, port, or Madeira).
🍯 Flavor Profile and Style
Rich and honeyed with notes of vanilla, oak, cinnamon, dried fruit and soft spices.
🌟 Special Bottlings or Collaborations
Known from DoubleWood 12 YO, Caribbean Cask 14 YO, PortWood 21 YO and Tun 1509 Series.
💎 Why this distillery is special
Balvenie is pure craftsmanship — a rare example of vertical production in a world of industrialization.
