Founded in 1779, possibly by David Simpson, it is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries. It has been part of Beam Suntory since 1994. Bowmore is globally acclaimed as one of the most balanced Islay malts, with a perfect balance of peat, fruit, and flowers.
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
Bowmore is one of the few distilleries that still uses its own malting floors. The whisky matures in old cellars below sea level—"No. 1 Vaults"—which imparts maritime freshness and mature complexity.
