📍 Loch Indaal, Islay, Scotland
Bruichladdich is Islay's most progressive distillery — organic, transparent and experimental, without losing its island identity.
🕰️ History and Legacy
Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, the distillery was reopened in 2001 by Mark Reynier and Jim McEwan, who transformed it into a pioneer in terroir and traceability. Since 2012, Bruichladdich has been part of Rémy Cointreau.
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
Bruichladdich produces three styles: the unpeated Bruichladdich, the heavily peated Port Charlotte, and the exceptionally smoky Octomore. Everything is bottled locally and made exclusively with Scottish barley.
🍯 Flavor Profile and Style
From fresh and floral (Bruichladdich Classic Laddie) to intensely peat-driven (Octomore), with consistent complexity and mouthfeel.
🌟 Special Bottlings or Collaborations
Known from Classic Laddie, Islay Barley Series, Black Art, Port Charlotte Heavily Peated, and Octomore Editions.
💎 Why this distillery is special
Bruichladdich stands for radical transparency and innovation — whisky with soul, provenance and vision.
