Currach Whiskey is produced by Origin Spirits, an Irish family-owned company known for its innovative premium spirits. The name "Currach" refers to the traditional Irish fishing boat, a symbol of craftsmanship and a connection to the sea and land.
🕰️ History and Legacy
Currach was born from the ambition to literally capture the Irish countryside in its whiskey. Since its first release in 2020, the brand has combined centuries-old Irish distilling art with a modern, experimental twist: maturation in casks finished with seaweed harvested along the Atlantic coast.
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
The whisky is distilled from 100% malted Irish barley, triple distilled, and first matured in ex-bourbon casks. It is then finished in a unique cask finish in casks toasted with Atlantic Kombu Seaweed or Atlantic Wakame Seaweed.
This innovative method gives the whisky a subtle maritime character without being overpowering — a tribute to Ireland's Atlantic coastline.
🍯 Flavor Profile and Style
Rich and complex with a soft, creamy mouthfeel.
Notes of vanilla, roasted malt, caramel and dark chocolate, combined with a light saltiness, umami and a hint of roasted nuts.
