Dalmunach Distillery

Schotland

📍 Carron, Speyside – Scotland
Dalmunach is one of Scotland's youngest distilleries, founded in 2014 by Pernod Ricard/Chivas Brothers. Situated on the River Spey on the site of the former Imperial Distillery, it combines cutting-edge technology with classic Scottish distilling tradition.

🕰️ History & Philosophy

Dalmunach was built as a showcase for sustainable distillation. Designed with energy efficiency and water recycling as core values, the distillery uses recycled bricks from the old Imperial site. The name refers to the nearby Dalmunach Farm.

Although young, Dalmunach builds on more than a century of Speyside heritage. The whisky is primarily used in blends by Chivas Regal and Ballantine's, but single cask and distillery edition releases are also slowly appearing.

⚗️ Production & Style

With eight impressive copper pot stills arranged in a fan arrangement, Dalmunach produces over 10 million liters of alcohol annually—one of the largest volumes in Speyside. Yet the distillation process is carefully focused on producing a light, fruity spirit with an elegant balance of malt and oak.

Maturation takes place in both ex-bourbon and sherry casks, resulting in a classic Speyside style with notes of honey, pear and soft vanilla.

🍯 Signature & Tasting Notes

Nose: fresh fruit, blossom, vanilla cream, a hint of almond.

Taste: creamy, slightly spicy, with notes of honey, apple and oak.

Finish: soft, fruity and elegantly dry with some citrus in the distance.
