📍 Rothes, Speyside, Scotland
Glen Spey is a discreet yet intriguing Speyside distillery, known for its light, dry style and a distinctive toasty character thanks to a rare distillation process.
🕰️ History and Legacy
Founded in 1878 by James Stuart & Co., the same founders as Glenrothes, it has been part of what is now Diageo since 1887. Most of the production is used in blends like J&B Rare, but small quantities are bottled as single malts—primarily in the Flora & Fauna collection.
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
Glen Spey is one of the few distilleries that uses purifiers on its stills, which create reflux and make the spirit extra light. The whisky is typically matured in refill bourbon casks to preserve its natural elegance.
🍯 Flavor Profile and Style
Dry and fresh with notes of malt, toasted bread, apple, citrus and light nuttiness.
🌟 Special Bottlings or Collaborations
Known for Flora & Fauna 12 YO and independent bottlings from Signatory Vintage and Douglas Laing.
