Glengyle is a resurrected distillery in whisky-historic Campbeltown, producing the acclaimed Kilkerran single malts — beloved for their balance of smoke, fruit, and minerality.
🕰️ History and Legacy
Originally founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, it closed in 1925. In 2004 the distillery was reopened by J&A Mitchell (owners of Springbank) as a tribute to Campbeltown's rich whisky heritage.
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
Glengyle uses traditional production methods and unpeated to lightly peated barley. The spirit is matured in bourbon, sherry, and rum casks, resulting in a subtly complex style typical of Campbeltown.
