📍 Mulben, Speyside, Scotland
Glentauchers is a hidden gem of Speyside — a distillery rarely released as a single malt, but beloved by blenders for its smooth, fruity, and elegant spirit.
🕰️ History and Legacy
Founded in 1897 by James Buchanan & Co. to produce whisky for his famous Black & White blend, Glentauchers remained faithful to its traditional production methods despite several closures, including one between 1985 and 1992. Today, Glentauchers is owned by Pernod Ricard (Chivas Brothers).
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
The distillery uses six pot stills and long fermentation to create a light, fruity new make. The whisky is matured primarily in refill bourbon casks, which preserves the spirit's natural elegance.
🍯 Flavor Profile and Style
Light, fruity and floral with notes of pear, green apple, vanilla, grain and soft honey.
🌟 Special Bottlings or Collaborations
Although official bottlings are scarce, independent releases from Gordon & MacPhail, Berry Bros. & Rudd, Càrn Mòr and Signatory Vintage appear regularly.
💎 Why this distillery is special
Glentauchers is Speyside in its purest form — delicate, subtle and supremely refined.
