Originally founded in 1810, it was rebuilt in 1963 by the local community and brothers Robin and Charles Fletcher. Since then, Jura has become a symbol of island determination and the modern revival of Scottish distilling.

The distillery uses tall, narrow stills that produce a light, refined spirit. The whisky is matured in bourbon casks and is sometimes finished in sherry or wine casks. Jura is known for its subtle use of peat and distinct island character.
