Miltonduff Distillery

Scotland

📍 Elgin, Speyside, Scotland
Located south of Elgin in the Speyside region, Miltonduff is one of the most important malts in the Ballantine's blend. Yet, it shines in its own right thanks to its elegant and aromatic character.

🕰️ History and Legacy

Founded in 1824 on the site of an ancient abbey, Miltonduff is known as one of Speyside's first legal distilleries. Since 1936, it has been part of Pernod Ricard and forms a key part of their portfolio.

⚗️ Production and Philosophy

The distillery uses six pot stills and produces a light, fruity spirit. In the past, Miltonduff also operated the more experimental Lomond Stills, which produced a spicier version. Maturation takes place primarily in bourbon and refill casks.

🍯 Flavor Profile and Style

Elegant, floral and fruity with notes of apple, pear, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon.

🌟 Special Bottlings or Collaborations

Known from Ballantine's Miltonduff Editions and independent bottlings via Gordon & MacPhail and Càrn Mòr.

💎 Why this distillery is special

A hidden gem of Speyside — soft and refined, yet with depth and balance.
