📍 Ballindalloch, Speyside, Scotland
The Glenlivet distillery is located in the picturesque Livet Valley in the heart of Speyside. This distillery is a true pioneer in the history of single malt Scotch whisky.
🕰️ History and Legacy
Founded in 1824 by George Smith, The Glenlivet was the first distillery to legally produce whisky after the Whisky Excise Act. Smith thus laid the foundation for Speyside's reputation as the home of elegant, fruity single malts. Today, The Glenlivet is part of Pernod Ricard.
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
The Glenlivet uses narrow copper pot stills and pure spring water from Josie's Well. The whisky is matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks to achieve a balanced, accessible style.
🍯 Flavor Profile and Style
Light and fruity with notes of pear, apple, vanilla, honey and a hint of tropical fruit.
🌟 Special Bottlings or Collaborations
Known for The Glenlivet 12, 15, 18 and 21 Year Old, as well as the exclusive Cipher and Nadurra ranges.
