Tomato

Scotland

📍 Inverness-shire, Highland, Scotland
The Tomatin Distillery is nestled in the rugged northern Highlands, surrounded by rolling hills and misty valleys. The pure spring water from the Monadhliath Mountains gives the whisky its characteristically smooth and fruity signature.

🕰️ History and Legacy

Tomatin was founded in 1897 and grew to become Scotland's largest malt distillery by the 1960s. After a period of decline, the distillery was acquired in 1986 by the Japanese group Takara Shuzo, ushering in a new era of quality and innovation.

⚗️ Production and Philosophy

Tomatin combines traditional Scottish methods with Japanese precision. The whisky matures in a mix of bourbon, sherry, and wine casks. The focus is on balance, smoothness, and natural expression—non-chill filtered and uncolored.

🍯 Flavor Profile and Style

Soft and fruity with notes of apple, honey, vanilla and light spices.

🌟 Special Bottlings or Collaborations

Known for Tomatin Legacy, 18 Year Old Oloroso Finish and the Cù Bòcan series (lightly peated).

💎 Why this distillery is special

Tomatin bridges the gap between old and new: traditional Scottish craftsmanship with Japanese finesse.
