πŸ“ Highlands, Scotland β€” Distillery Undisclosed
A single malt from an undisclosed distillery in the Highlands. Independent bottlers use this designation when the distillery does not allow its name on the label.

πŸ” Why "undisclosed"?

Distilleries sometimes sell casks on the condition that their name is not mentioned. The bottler then only indicates the origin by the region β€” here the Highlands. The whisky is usually a single malt from a single distillery.

🌍 How do you recognise a Highland?

The Highlands form the largest and most varied whisky region, so "Highland style" is broader than that of the other regions. Nevertheless, there are recognisable lines: a sturdier, fuller body than the Lowlands, with notes of honey, heather, oak, and dark fruit, and sometimes a hint of smoke or a salty sea breeze from coastal distilleries. The northern Highlands tend to be spicy and lightly smoky (Glenmorangie, Dalmore, Clynelish), while the central and southern Highlands are fruitier and softer. Versatility is the hallmark here.
