Schotland
📍 Lowlands, Scotland - distillery undisclosed
A single malt from an unnamed distillery in the Lowlands. Independent bottlers use this designation when the distillery does not permit its name to be disclosed on the label.
🔍 Why "undisclosed"?
Distilleries sometimes sell casks on the condition that their name is not mentioned. The bottler then only indicates the origin by region — in this case, the Lowlands. The whisky is typically a single malt from one distillery.
🌍 How do you recognize a Lowland?
Lowland whisky is known as the softest and most approachable style in Scotland. Traditionally, it was often triple-distilled here, resulting in a light, clean, and delicate spirit. Recognizable by floral and grassy notes: citrus (lemon, grapefruit), freshly cut grass, grains, honey, and a dry, crisp finish reminiscent of shortbread. There is usually little to no smoke, allowing the influence of the cask to shine through. Classic examples include Auchentoshan, Glenkinchie, and Bladnoch.
