King Cask is Dam Dranken's independent bottling brand, famous for its unique "dynamic aging": whisky that literally sails along on the three-masted ship Thalassa.
π°οΈ History & Philosophy
King Cask is a Dutch independent bottler on the Wadden island of Terschelling. The tall ship Thalassa is owned by Captain Jacob Jan Dam; Dam Dranken is the initiative of his son Joris Dam. Their philosophy: to give whisky an extra dimension through movement, sea air, and maritime influence.
βοΈ Selection & Production
Whiskies first mature classically in Scotland and then undergo a second maturation on board the Thalassa, which sails along France, Scotland, England, Ireland, Denmark, and Germany. The constant movement and salty maritime climate deepen the maturation. Bottlings are typically non-chill filtered, natural color, and cask strength.
π― Signature & Style
Maritime and expressive β with a salty undertone, rich cask influence (often sherry or rum), and a powerful, lively character.
π Famous Series
Thalassa Whisky (dynamically aged), alongside De Verloren Whisky, Captain's Catch Rum, and other maritime creations.
π Why this bottler is special
King Cask turns maturation into a sea adventure β no other bottler lets their whisky literally taste the ocean like this.
