📍 Craigellachie, Speyside, Scotland
Craigellachie is a Speyside distillery with a distinctive character—smokier, fuller, and oilier than most whiskies from the region. A whisky with backbone and personality.
🕰️ History and Legacy
Founded in 1891 by Alexander Edward and Peter Mackie (the man behind White Horse), Craigellachie was designed from the outset to stand out—and it still does. Today, the distillery is part of Dewar's (Bacardi).
⚗️ Production and Philosophy
Craigellachie uses worm tubs instead of modern condensers, resulting in a rich, powerful spirit. The distillery uses slow distillation and light peat, which gives the whisky a distinctive sulfurous depth.
🍯 Flavor Profile and Style
Full and complex with notes of tropical fruit, smoke, beeswax, roasted malt, pineapple and spices.
🌟 Special Bottlings or Collaborations
Known from Craigellachie 13, 17 and 23 YO, and the limited Exceptional Cask Series.
💎 Why this distillery is special
Craigellachie is Speyside with attitude — bold, headstrong and unmistakably distinctive.
