Craigellachie is known for its slightly more robust, almost lightly sulphurous distillate style, which often combines beautifully with sherry casks. In this bottling from Càrn Mòr, you can see how a Fino sherry cask can give it a different twist than the more common, richer Oloroso influence.
Distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2026 after 14 years, this whisky matured in a first-fill Fino sherry cask. Fino is known for its drier, fresher profile, and you can taste that. No heavy, sweet sherry notes, but rather a combination of fruit, nuttiness, and a light, elegant spiciness that complements Craigellachie's character well.
At 47.5% alcohol, non-chill filtered and without added colouring, the whole remains pure and accessible, while having enough depth to remain interesting.
