π Alness, Highland, Scotland
Situated on the shores of the Cromarty Firth in the Northern Highlands, Teaninich Distillery produces a clear, floral whisky using a unique distillation process.
π°οΈ History and Legacy
Founded in 1817 by Captain Hugh Munro, Teaninich has supplied whisky to major blending companies like Johnnie Walker for centuries. Although little known to the public, it is a favorite among independent bottlers.
βοΈ Production and Philosophy
Teaninich uses an unusual mash filter instead of a traditional mash tun, resulting in a very clear wort and a fresh, citrusy spirit. The whisky is matured primarily in bourbon barrels.
π― Flavor Profile and Style
Light and fresh with notes of lemon, green apple, malt and light spiciness.
π Special Bottlings or Collaborations
Known from independent bottlings via Adelphi, Signatory and Berry Bros & Rudd, among others.
π Why this distillery is special
Teaninich is a hidden gem from the Highlands, beloved for his technical precision and vibrant, clear style.
