This Adelphi Selection is a single cask bottling from Lochlea Distillery (Lowlands), a modern farm distillery known for a clear, malty spirit with lots of fresh fruit. The whisky matured for 7 years in a first fill bourbon barrel, which provides an expressive yet elegant wood influence: vanilla, honey, light coconut, and citrus notes.
Because Lochlea's distillate still shines through clearly, the profile remains energetic and "clean": think orchard fruit, grain/malty biscuits, and a soft spiciness that gives the whole structure. With only 222 bottles, this is a great release for fans of modern single malts who appreciate something fresh, creamy, and approachable, without being boring.
