Some bottlings are special because they are scarce. Others because there's a story behind them. This new Berry Bros. & Rudd Friends of BBR Netherlands bottling undoubtedly belongs to the latter category.
For this exclusive Williamson 2010, we had the unique opportunity to help select the cask ourselves. Together with Berry Bros. & Rudd, we searched for a whisky that perfectly reflects the character of Islay: powerful and smoky, yet refined and elegant. The result is an impressive single malt that, after 15 years of maturation, has found exactly the right balance between maritime influences, soft fruit notes, and characteristic peat smoke.
Williamson is the name independent bottlers use for whisky from a famous distillery on the south coast of Islay. Enthusiasts immediately know what to expect: a combination of salty sea air, campfire smoke, citrus, and a surprisingly refined sweetness.
This bottling was distilled in 2010 and, after fifteen years of maturation, selected for the Dutch market within the Friends of BBR program. A whisky that is not only special because of its origin, but also because we were involved in the cask selection from the very first tasting.
