Douglas Laing's Scallywag 18 Years elevates the well-known Speyside blended malt to a higher level. While younger editions primarily focus on freshness and playful fruit, this 18-year-old variant offers more calm, depth, and concentration.
For this expression, carefully selected Speyside single malts have been brought together—sourced from distilleries known for their rich and sherry-friendly character. After a long maturation, the whisky received an additional period in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which provides a clear signature of dark fruit, chocolate, and soft spiciness.
The combination of maturation and cask selection results in a whisky that is full and rounded, without becoming heavy. Bottled at 46%, without chill filtration and with natural color, the character remains pure and unadulterated.
With a limited edition, and only a small number of bottles for the Netherlands, this is a bottling that will especially appeal to lovers of classic, sherry-driven Speyside whisky.
