Nose

Medicinal peat smoke and campfire, with iodine, seaweed and lemon peel. Beneath that, a soft touch of vanilla and freshly baked bread.

Palate

Powerful and saline. Smoked malt, sea salt and citrus oil, followed by earthy peat, lemon curd and some warm spices.

Finish

Long and dry, with smouldering smoke, a saline sea breeze and a gentle bourbon sweetness that slowly fades.

Living Souls is a young independent bottler from Glasgow, founded in 2024 by three whisky makers with backgrounds at companies including Loch Lomond, Douglas Laing and Diageo. They release small batches and single casks, with an emphasis on whiskies with their own story.

This 11-year-old Laphroaig matured in refill bourbon casks. These impart less wood and sweetness than a first-fill cask, allowing the distinctive Laphroaig character to take centre stage: medicinal peat smoke, iodine and sea salt, underpinned by citrus and a subtle touch of vanilla. Bottled at 50%, with natural colour and without chill filtration.

A pure, unadulterated Laphroaig for lovers of Islay peat who want to taste the distillery without the influence of sherry or wine.
