📍 Islay, Scotland — distillery undisclosed
A single malt from an undisclosed distillery on Islay. Independent bottlers (and brands like Mac-Talla) use this designation when the distillery does not allow its name on the label.

🔍 Why "undisclosed"?

Distilleries sometimes sell casks on the condition that their name is not mentioned. The bottler then only indicates the origin by the region — here Islay. The whisky is usually a single malt from one distillery.

🌍 How do you recognize an Islay?

Islay whisky is perhaps the most recognizable style in the world. The malt is traditionally dried over a peat fire, which gives it its typical smoky and peaty notes. Its location in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean provides a distinct maritime character: sea salt, iodine, seaweed, and a coastal freshness. Expect also medicinal notes (tar, plasters, campfire smoke), black pepper, and sometimes a fatty, oily texture. Note: not every Islay is heavily peated — distilleries such as Bunnahabhain and Bruichladdich also produce unpeated styles — but the combination of smoke, salt, and power makes the region immediately recognizable.
